We are very proud to call Nancy our Director! With her enthusiasm, wealth of knowledge and experience (see below!) and positive outlook, she’s brought an extra-special sparkle to a chorus that already had lots of spunk!
Nancy Kurth joined Sweet Adelines in 1969 (at 3 years old–ahem), and has been a member of choruses in Missouri, Colorado, Washington and Oregon, including 30 years as assistant-, associate-, or co-director, and 25 years as a front-line director. She is currently a member of the chorus and the music staff of Pride of Portland in Portland, OR, and Director of Northwest Harmony Chorus in Vancouver, WA (WOO-HOO! That’s us!)
Nancy is accomplished as a quartet lead and baritone, having been a Regional Quartet Medalist 22 times and Regional Quartet Champion 4 times. She is now singing bass and is part of a performance chorus traveling to New Zealand in February 2017 for shows with sister Sweet Adeline Choruses in that country.
She has held most chorus positions as well as such Regional positions as Director Coordinator, Membership and Marketing Coordinator, Education Coordinator and is currently the Team Coordinator for Region 13 Sweet Adelines (Northern Oregon, Washington, Alaska,Western Montana and Northern Idaho)
She has been selected as Sweet Adeline of the Year in 4 choruses, and received the Region 24 Rose Achievement Award in 2010.
Nancy retired as Branch Claim Manager for American Family Insurance, and holds Insurance Associate designations in both Property Claim Law and Fraud Claim Law from the American Education Institute. In 2013 she retired again, this time, from Horizon Restoration as their Training Coordinator. She and her husband, Dave, enjoy golfing and their four grandsons.
