Allison’s high school choir director sang tenor in in a men’s barbershop quartet. The first time she heard them sing, the bass sound just resonated in her chest and grabbed her heart.

She found my barbershop family in 1991 at Golden Sands chorus in Long Beach CA. She moved to Portland OR in 1995 and hashave sung with Blue Lake chorus, which became Pride of Portland, Cascade Harmony, and NW Harmony choruses.

Part of what makes this organization special is the focus on education. Opportunities abound and her musical and leadership skills have been honed on the music team, including section leader, front row, choreography, and costume teams, as well as show and fundraising committees. She serves on the Sweet Adelines International Diversity Equity and Inclusion [DEI] Chorus Toolkit Subcommittee and the Region 13 DEI committee. Some of her best and most challenging experiences have been performing and competing with ten quartets over 33 years.
